After a warm December Mt. Washington and The Presidential Range are now white with snow. Lets hope for some good Alpine Glows at sunrise like this image from years ago. It is easier shooting sunrises in December or January because the sunrise is after 7AM, than later in the winter when the sunrise is closer to 6AM. In December and January the sun is lower in the sky.This enables the sun’s rays to light up the mountains with more dramatic light than later in the winter when the sun is higher in the sky.
